Zelenskyy commented, "It's evident that Russia is scrambling to restart conversations immediately after it hears about Tomahawks." This statement referred to recent comments about supplying advanced missiles to Ukraine.

Diplomatic Moves and International Reactions

An ex- American diplomat, a foreign policy expert, commented, "The Russian leader is trying to derail the momentum toward greater pressure on the Kremlin." Fried continued, "The outcome will become clear tomorrow, but the likelihood of achieving a truce by pushing Russia to get serious seem to have decreased."

The development followed the US president had recently been hardening his rhetoric toward Russia until the recent call with Putin, which the Russian government described as "highly frank and constructive."

EU Energy Sanctions and Economic Impact

EU authorities have set a requirement for fuel importers into the EU to prove their products are not made from Russian crude, according to a official guideline released on recently. This step is part of the European Union's upcoming ban on purchases of refined products processed from Russian petroleum, which forms part of its latest restrictive measures against Moscow over its war in Ukraine.

Market experts observed that trading patterns appeared to be factoring in the potential reduction of Indian purchases of Russian crude. Several oil processors in India are getting ready to reduce Russian oil imports, with expectations of a gradual reduction, as reported by insiders knowledgeable about the situation.

"This is a favorable turn for the oil market as it would remove a major buyer of Russian crude," commented Tony Sycamore, noting that oil prices were stable on Thursday.

Military Developments and Infrastructure Strikes

A large-scale Moscow's unmanned aircraft and missile assault hit gas facilities in eastern Ukraine on the same day, causing disruptions in eight regions. Authorities in Ukraine stated that Russian forces launched hundreds of unmanned vehicles and many of missiles, along with glide bombs.

Kallas announced a "plan" to get ready for potential conflict by 2030, including a new defensive network to be completely functional by the end of 2027.

This initiative, dubbed the "European drone defence initiative," is projected to start operations in its first phase by the end of 2026 and be fully functioning by the following year. Brussels hopes to obtain the backing of EU leaders at a meeting next week.
